Paris's Physical Geography

Paris is the capital city of France. It is located in the north of the Seine river, about 90 miles from the English Channel. Paris has two islands which is Ile Saint-Louis and Ile de la Cite and these two cities are the oldest place of the city. The city has several hills, the highest one is called Montmartre.  However, generally the land is flat. Paris has a great water resource Seine river. The Seine river drains much of the Paris Basin and flows northwest into the Atlantic Ocean, it is a significant water route that leads to other water resources.

Climate
    Paris has the lowest rainfall because it lies in the midst of the Ile de France region. However, it is known for unexpected rains all year around. The city rarely sees extremely high or low temperatures. Normally Summer temperature is mild and warm, very chilly during winter. The temperature reaches its freezing point.


Vegetation

 The vegetation of France is related to climate conditions. In high mountains, there are only a few varieties of moss and lichen growing. Down the mountainside, it is a good place for grazing for sheep and cattle during summer time. And most of the lowlands in France are generally used as farmlands.

France's Human Geography

     Paris is the intellectual, financial, cultural, transportation center of France.  The official language of Paris is French but  majority can also speak English. Paris has one of the most beautiful tourist attractions, tourism could be the main industry of the city. Paris. Some famous artifacts are Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum. Paris is divided into half by Seine River. In northern region, many fashion related industries are known. There are major fashion brands shops and streets. On the other side of the river, there are government offices, also known as old Latin Quarter. The main religion in Paris is Christian, mostly Catholics, some Protestants, however, interestingly, Paris has increasing Muslim community. Paris has GDP of € 533.6 billion (US.$731.3 billion) which is the highest GDPs in Europe. The population of the city of Paris is 2,181,374 at the 2006 census. The city is really dense which is 24,448 inhabitants per square kilometer.
